Sensei Paul Sparks, student of Daniel Toutain, the head of Iwama Ryu France
Sensei Miller from Edinburgh visits us each Christmas to run a seminar and grading for the kids. Steff is a good friend who I met in France during uchi-deshi.

2007 Eight members of Iwama Ryu North West applied to become Junior Trainee Assistant Instructors. They will commit to a minimum of three nights a week, two for their training and one night to learn how to teach, break down techniques and develop classroom skills. They will face a theoretical and practical exam after six months in order to stay on the programme and then continue their development if they pass.

2007 Iwama Ryu North West have six junior members as part of the committee. They will attend meetings and have a voice for our large junior section. As you can see, five of them are also Trainees.

2007 Iwama Ryu North West run four camps each year, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. These are fitted into half term and summer holidays and are well attended.Nine of these students passed the next level grading successfully.
2007 A good day was had by all when Iwama Ryu North West travelled to Birmingham to have a day with Shihan Bayliss and Sensei Tony Brown of Seijitsu Aikido. It was a very hot day and all the kids practised both indoors and outdoors. A different approach to the day's training was received well by our junior students.

2007 Sensei attended a short course run by Sensei Joe Thambu, 6th Dan, from Australia. Two hours of restraint and removal techniques! Fantastic.
